Re: Wobbly Passes

I recently added this to the PBP when the pass accuracy is below a certain threshold. (1) I wanted to help identify when passes are being incomplete more because of the accuracy than the pass catching skill, and (2) help identify if maybe the accuracy calculation is partly causing issues with the completion rate. Nothing changed except adding this to the PBP, so if anything it is exposing an existing issue rather than creating a new one.

Feel free to post examples of the 'wobbly pass' text showing up when you feel like the QB was not under pressure and should have a good pass accuracy rating.

UPDATE: I started to update this with the MFN-1 games, and then I realized there was a key term that I hadn't _even been search for_ in the game logs, so this is probably only three-fourths of the wobby passes in the Beta-87 games. I assume this is enough anyway.

Every example of a QB not under pressure from the last 87 games broken down by QB Accuracy.

Some general observations about the above examples:

1) Wobbly passes come in bunches. You rarely see a QB have one and only one wobbly pass in a game. They typically have 5-10 or they have none. There is no real logical distribution to any of them.

2) They don't seem to be tied to any distance like I would expect. They seem to happen equally at all distances. But since most owners stick to short-to-intermediate passing they appear to be grouped in that range. (The fact that there are any penalties to throwing short is something that has annoyed me for a while to be fair: https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/community/1/2287?page=1)

thanks for that list - that was very helpful. I'm going to make a tweak to the accuracy algorithm before tonight's games to see if it helps.

I'm seeing fewer wobbly passes when the QB is not under pressure. I haven't done a full inventory, but seeing fewer of them.

I am guessing pass release is one of the main drivers of this wobbly pass? My qb had 33 release and my opponent had 100. Every play my qb threw a wobbly pass whether a defender was near him or not, but hands in the face of my opponents qb and nothing noted in the PBP.

It shouldn't. Release is the equivalent of reaction time.

If you can post two or three plays that you feel like the wobbly pass was reported when there was no pressure, I can look to see what the accuracy was calculated to. A player with low pass accuracy -will- have more wobbly passes, but passing release should not have any impact.

Does weather have any effect on this?

Well, I knew of the accuracy driver. My qb had 97 and my opponents had 71. This is my main concern . Still, i had the lower overall rated qb. But as for linking plays ....it was ever play, at a certain point, all game long. But I will try to link them . Thanks.
