[0.4.5] Update version bbe2bfb

Made a change to include intelligence and discipline in the QB's decision to throw the ball, and also modified the logic for determining openness of a receiver, especially longer passes. This appears to reduce the dump-offs and sacks significantly. Completion percentage still is too high but yards per attempt and interceptions are still on target in testing. Sacks are way too low in testing with this version as well.

Feedback welcome after preseason week 2.

I haven't watched a whole lot of film in alpha, but I've watched some.

Here are things to look for / confirm:

1) I think sacks are lower because WRs are getting open pretty easily. There are a few reasons why for this.

...a) I think that route is being weighted higher than M2M in calculations
...b) I think B&R handfighting could be weighted more.
...c) I think that player strategies based on playing the fastest WR as opposed to the most technically sound one with adequate speed are going to be very exposed in this version of the code. (Try playing more 100 B&R and 100 M2M guys.)

2) I think sacks are lower because DL are actually under powered now that QBs make decisions as quickly as they should.

...a) Watch acceleration on DL. I think a high AC, high SP DL can still be disruptive, but if not, then that is the first place to look.
...b) Watch blitzes, especially overload blitzes. I typically use those against the run, but they may be effective now against the pass in moderation.

3) I think QB accuracy is a product of QB's being over generated in terms of Accuracy and Intelligence. If the generation scheme doesn't change, then I would adjust the parabolic up some. (Increase the magnitude of a in the -ax^2 to 3-5 times what it is now.) That will mean greater differences in accuracy from 50->70 and 70->90.

Oh, also, I'm pretty sure this update fixes all of the pitch plays.

I'm not pontificating here, but I will regurgitate a well known phrase among DB's vs WR's...very much more related to the game of football than JDB's version of Football.

"Flat feet get beat"...."Getting beat means to cheat"! I've often wondered why OPI/DPI is not mentioned in this game......Just some thoughts.

I know for sure offensive pass interference is in the game currently.

Rough game for this young 64 default qb with 20 accuracy . He faced a pass key and a lot of man coverage from a secondary with depth. Alot of pressure but not much oline depth. Perhaps guys were out of position there causing the hurried throws.

I've been thinking about the lack of sacks. Is Passing Release calculated as a parabolic? I'm wondering if low Release QBs would take more sacks by being a bit more indecisive.

Before qbs held the ball too long. Now they are a bit quick. Simply slowing that down should increase sacks again .

I always took release to mean throwing mechanics. Not necessarily a mental flaw from a processing point of view. To me intelligence would handle this one.... like a guy who gets rattled under pressure. Dumb guys here take sacks or throw INTS under pressure.

Still release seems to have value countering sacks in this game

Release has always been the time it takes between the QB makes the decision who to throw to and when he throws. Low release had a major impact prior to 0.4.4.
