Updated for 2040 week 5 games. Knockdown attributions should increase, some better responses for defenders when the ball is thrown including zone.

I saw three major things that concern me a lot in my game.

1) QBs throwing way too early into the route: https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/9130#1664066
A) This one is not good at all.

2) QBs not throwing anywhere close to where the WR was or where he will be: https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/9130#1664055

2B) https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/9130#1664257
A) Better one. This should be a first down. The QB has all day to throw and the WR has a step on the DB. Plays like this need to be addressed.

3) QBs not waiting for all receivers to make their cuts before checking down to the RB when not under pressure: https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/9130#1664138
A) QB needs to wait half a second longer and then throw it to the wide open TE here.

3B) https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/9130#1664101
A) Here is a better one. The WR at the bottom of the screen is going to be wide open. The QB needs to drop back and make all of his reads here.

On most of plays, the QB should be reading the RB last. Is there a reason why the RB is becoming the first read?

This is a good example of what I mean.

Play goes to the RB: https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/9130#1664122
Same play goes to the WR: https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/9130#1664228

This is a medium passing play, so the QB should at least look at the medium passing routes first. In the first one, his only read is the RB and he throws the ball before the WRs cut. On the second play, the bottom WR is his first/only read and he throws a nice downfield strike.

I know that there is no artificial penalty for short passes on medium-long routes because that's controlling checkdowns, but I think that logic needs changed. Here's the logic I would like to see:

1) QBs look at play called routes...
2) ...UNTIL all WRs have made their cuts...
3) ...UNLESS the QB comes under pressure...
4) ...THEN QB immediately switches to the checkdown route if open.

I would basically like to see that logic applied to all RB routes.

I would also like to point out that when QBs were not making fast decisions, all the checkdowns were more necessary. So adding back in a penalty to looking at short routes on Medium to Long plays is probably needed now.

Passes are too quick at times, but my qb took sacks When checkdowns were the obvious choice. They were long and medium passes . A quick throw to anyone would have worked there .

Could bump disrupt timing that much?

Noting that I didn't see any over runs in coverage and my defense was the benefactor . Still, we need a little more targets for wrs.

As for changes to code. Reads have always seemed off. I like the current model as you can generally target guys. IRL reads come pre snap as well. I think we're kinda missing that. So, any suggestions has to result in better reads. I would almost want to try custom qb target progressions and locking defenders on recievers but it's probably too early for that.

I've seen some of this : the ball going right through the RB on a RB pass.

Player with the ball getting called for holding? Is this even possible?

Ha! I didn't see any of those in Alpha.

I did the ones where an offensive team would DECLINE a Pass Interference and then PUNT. Those were fun.

There wasn't a whole lot that stood out to me last game. I haven't gone play-by-play through the game, but I'm also not trying a whole lot of new things.

I agree, except for a low cpt %. I saw a lot aof passes really of target.
By the way, how is your average on medium passes ? Mine is very low. Is t due to comp% ?

4 ints early on in this game. This one is ugly, but it happens.

For three weeks in a row, my QB has a low comp%. He began the season with games in the 60-70% range. Is there something going on ?

This is the worst over pursuit by a safety that I have seen: https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/9155#1668527

The QB throws the ball less than a yard from where the safety was standing before he started to move upfield.

One nice thing from my game that I really liked. I ran a game plan that threw a lot of long passes that had short-to-intermediate routes as a secondary route. I didn't take any sacks, although I got pressured plenty, and the QB spread the ball around.

The reason I like this is because I don't see a point in the Short-Medium-Long play calls most of the time. Most passing plays should run levels, so why does it matter in the middle of the field on first or second down what the play distance is? Only in situational football does that become important, and then you have to game plan your personnel as well as play call to get your appropriate distances. So being able to call a lot of Medium and Long passes and have the QB throw to the open receiver is a win. And, for what it's worth, the QB didn't checkdown immediately on all of these throws, which is also a win.

If I took the time to really build a solid game plan around it, I would probably do better with it. This was just a quick experiment.
