Fair-catch interference?

Just throwing it out there, but I feel the defenders get too close to a player fielding a fair-catch kick, like right on top of him. Not that they would cause a fumble (I hope), but in the event of one, if they kept a short distance it would give the receiver a slightly better chance to recover.

It doesn't impact his ability to make the catch, but I agree if for no other reason that the cosmetic issue of the defender being on top of the returner. I'll put a ticket in to adjust that.

On that note, can we enhance kick returns a little? The returners constantly run straight for a defender when there is open field on both sides...not very realistic. Since we adjusted kick returns down, there really aren't any returns for TDs at all, let alone long returns.

Just kick returns, though, right? Punt returns seem fine.

Mostly kick returns, but it also does happen on some punt returns. The biggest issue with punt returns is that the gunners out run the ball to the returner, resulting in mostly fair catches.

True, but when there actually are punt returns there is a very nice % of long returns

The punter's accuracy influences whether he outkicks his coverage (in previous versions the punter always outkicked his coverage) so some of that is the punter doing a good job. I might look at the % of fair catches vs. the NFL average and see if the punters are too good.

I agree. Kickoffs are almost always straight down the middle, and the return IS always in a straight line for 15 or 20 yards right into a defender.

I have added this to the list.

Hasn't it changed already? I've seen much longer kick returns lately
