Sure he could Bust, but h could also be more likely to Boom.

For those guys Draft Rated at a 99 it's more Risk, because a 'Boom' just means he stays a 99... but it's just as likely to happen as him losing 10 Points (and even then, he's still an 89. How horrible is that, to have an 89? I have 2 LBs that lost 5 and 7, dropping them to 93 and 92, I'm not upset at it at all. They didn't 'Bust', ****, they are still going to be Studs.

Now when a 90+ drops to a 70-80, THAT is a Bust... but even then if he has the Numbers in the right spot he can still work. Because a lot of teams are filled with Starters in that 70-80 Range.


This is how it will work - high volatility will mean a high probability of a boom -or- bust, but will not indicate which one.

This went very well in our test in MFN-1, it made the draft much more interesting. It lowered the stock a little of those high-rated high-volatility players and I think they dropped more than they would have otherwise, and I feel like it made the later rounds a little more interesting as the higher volatility players were in more demand.


What kind of drops are we talking, though? If I'm looking at a 99, I'm fully capable of accepting as much as a 9 Point Drop (down to 90), in which he might luck up and get some Max back over the next few Camps. A 90 is still a 90. He's legit. Losing 9 Max in Camp has little baring in that regard, he's still going to be a threat.

I had a guy CLIMB 16 in a Camp... do people FALL 16? I'd be upset if I Drafted a Player 1.1 and he fell 16... but that's the breaks so I'd be cool with it. Just my time for the short end of the stick.

Having Volatility let's me choose if I play it safe with 'Character Players' or roll the dice ala Cincy/Oak on those 'Problems' or 'Work Out Warriors'.

There was a time when all you needed to be a WR for the Raiders was a Bronze or Better in some Track Event in the Olympics. Hands? Who needs those? Just burn them, baby, burn them! Some of them... like Tim Brown who had World Class Sprinter Speed, happened to also have hands. Others, not so much. This persisted even after Al Davis passed away.

So I think it would be cool to show Volatility, as long as we realize that Stud 99 might still be a Stud 99 even with a Wild Volatility... so pass on him at your own risk. Because you might be passing on Ray Lewis.

Some will tailor their Drafts to be Safe, most will swing for the fences late, not caring if a 40 crashes into a Teen, because of the chance he emerges a 60 (a Non-Kicker 60 in the 7th would be pure gold, Jerry, pure gold!).

The real question, since most everyone will be playing Lotto from the 5th and deeper, is who will be safe in Rounds 1-2, and 3-4, and who will take those big swings.

Will be super fun to see the impact.
