I'd say the problem is that whilst UI improvements are essential moving forward, the focus has let the game engine slide. That's inevitable given the lack of resources for developing the game, we all know and understand that.

Now what setherick is saying isn't that JDB sucks, new UI sucks, everything sucks - what he's saying is that from the perspective of someone who gameplans heavily, the game has drifted so far away from that, it's damaging. We see WRs at TE. We see DEs at DT. We see CBs at DE - and there's no game engine rule or tooling for league admins to block that.

The effective removal of long passing from the game due to the game engine means a significant part of the real game - let's face it, people love mad bomber QBs - is missing. You're new, want to play the game and find out the game works, but you'll only win by doing X, Y and Z which have been worked out by what remains of the community makes people wonder why they should play.

I think setherick sees the potential of the game and is probably - and imo rightly - frustrated by seeing the game not achieving what it could. IMO, whilst the UI changes are needed, whilst the removal of the overly tight integration between web pages and backend are vital from an architectural perspective, the damage to the community by the game engine being, not neglected, but de-prioritised at this point in time has hurt and hurt massively. 4.6 as a match engine, for me, has had it's time and needs to be Old Yellered.

I personally think the match engine should have been the absolute priority - and it always should be; that retains players. The UI changes were absolutely needed, and I have no issue with that, but right now, the match engine lets things down.

I've little doubt JDB has plans to improve the match engine, and I'm sure that'll take priority now the UI side has had the bulk of the work done. The problem is that experienced players have now quit the game. Is there enough "publicity" to attract new players, will the UI retain new players? Hopefully it will.

4.6 has been around for over 2 years now and while I agree the UI needed to be updated, it amounts to putting makeup on a pig!!

That's especially true since the game switched to a subscription model which killed a bunch of leagues. I admin 2 long standing leagues (seasons 34 & 36) and I was forced to save 1 and let the other 1 die because the majority of owners were in both leagues and very few people will pay for MFN in its current state.

I have zero issues paying for MFN but the priority needs to be on actual game play now more then ever. The new UI should have waited until a stable 4.7 was released.

100% my opinion as someone paying at the highest tier monthly!!!!

Dude. Let it go, it's not worth it. If you want to continue your beef with WH, this is not the place to do it.

I don't even know why he has it.
I really don't.
Which makes his anger all the more useless and self-destructive.

Bingo. I haven't game planned properly nor extensively in years.

The bottom line, and hopefully the first priority post whatever UI goal there is of acceptability must be fixing player weights.
Second would be game controlled player contracts.

I've agreed for ages about weights must be fixed first.
I think fixing players weights will unravel a lot of game play issues that currently exist, and thus will expedite fixing the game play itself.
There's a lot of stuff 4.3-4.6 that was fixed because player weights were not.
I think if player weights had been fixed 4.4 - there are so many game play "fixes" that would have been unnecessary or might have actually worked. I think if weights had been fixed in 4.4, plays would not have been eliminated 4.6.
I think the failure to get the game engine in line with player weights is why almost every game play fix post 4.3 has failed with compounding issues.

Fixing weights plus fixing player contracts might just about (heck i don't know the specs or code, right?) improve non user MFN teams.

I don't know poo about poo. I'm really just tossing my opinions like a Golden Corral salad (our GC was leveled last month btw), and it's nothing but agreement about topics that some people have been beating since 2019...

PS edit: I definitely do not want to be any part of any team determining weights. People want to kill me already. LMAO

I think you mean 4.3. 4.4 lasted two weeks because it was so broken. 4.3 was pretty great even though it had its weird quirks like DBs abandoning m2m on long passes

But that's just it. I think 4.6 could be better if just for the 4 things I listed out. Even if owners were forced to play players at weight makes the game balanced and if de acceleration and wr acceleration was fixed sacks on medium and long passes would drop and scoring should come back

I think wr acceleration is hampered by how strong b&r is. Reducing that effectiveness could be a hot fix
