Oh, wow, when did that go into effect.

I thought the volatility was the volatility. Never tracked it as a draft progresses.

I don't remember this being implemented either.

What I know is that the boom/bust effect is amplified in the later rounds. Vol is just how likely a player will deviate from a median attribute score, and to a lesser degree, how much that deviation will be.

This might have been the what I was thinking off, I'd have to do some testing to see if vol is actually moving.

As far as I know, Vol should not change. If it has, it's a bug.

Yes vol does change after a player is drafted, we have many owners who tracked it in NCAA and it got to the point that i wrote JDB about it. Here was his response

hey jdb i have a question for ya. Our draft started today in ncaa nad the first pick overall had a 0 vol in the draft pool and when the team drafted him his vol went up to 2. Is this something that happens often? Never seen it before so i thought i'd ask ya. thanks

I think it was with this newest release that volatility is slightly masked, and increases as you go deeper into the selections, to increase the likelihood of late round booms. I didn't think it would impact the first round picks but there is not much of a difference between 0 and 2, as you get into later rounds you'll see higher volatility scores getting applied. (The application is random as well but the range of movement is based on the draft round)

I would need to dig through a year of forum posts in beta, but that's not how I remember Volatility and late round picks ever being described in beta testing, but it also would be the first time that something has been not fully described.

ya it was evident to us just because the very first pick of the draft had his vol go up lol. We noticed it happening a bunch of times throughout our draft but it was only slight, i think the most a guy went up was like 9 in vol after being drafted.

I've just seen a 4th round pick I took go from 52 vol to 62 (after picking him)....this has to be a bug ?

Apparently it's not. Did you see Bryson's response to the Vol question. It's how the "Bonus Bump" is being tracked. I'll add it to my Drafting post tonight.

I have now...but this is not very realistic to be fair. If I pick a person based on vol, to make a safer drafting decision, I expect the Vol to remain the same. Other attributes do not fluctuate based on picking a player, why is vol held to change ??

It's because Vol is what determines how far a player will deviate from a median attribute rating. Giving players a bonus means a variable Vol in late rounds. Variable Vol in all rounds is _probably_ realistic in that it accounts for variations in a team's scouting department.

To be fair, I think Vol should be driven off coaches or a "Scouting Coach" rating.
