Why would Cin sign the FA for insane money, and then trade him to take a $100 mil cap hit the next day?

I had tons of space and got offered a first round pick for the guy.

ya, but you posted him on the trade block for a 2nd rd pick right after you signed him...you intended on taking that hit anyway. $91 mil in dead cap already for next season. Still doesn't make sense.

Why not? Get a young guy for a 9th year pro to continue my strong youth movement and I'm still looking at being around 200 mil in projected cap hit next season after that and my draft picks this season.

This tread is the perfect example of how out of whack the salary issue. Its the biggest thing wrong with the game atm.

Trading older player for picks, or signing free agents and then trading them is hardly shady. I'm certainly not the first one to have done it either. That cap space would have gone unused otherwise anyway. I think we all know that in this league you just do not find young talented players in free agency.

+1

I actually don't have a problem with the Trade....The issue is that the salary cap is so outta wack....That it makes this possible...Another thing that would be nice would be for future players to take in consideration before singing with this team that this team would deal them before training camp...
