You could certainly argue there are issues with the way the cap and player salaries currently work, but everyone had an equal opportunity to sign that player.

ya, but you posted him on the trade block for a 2nd rd pick right after you signed him...you intended on taking that hit anyway. $91 mil in dead cap already for next season. Still doesn't make sense.

This tread is the perfect example of how out of whack the salary issue. Its the biggest thing wrong with the game atm.

I actually don't have a problem with the Trade....The issue is that the salary cap is so outta wack....That it makes this possible...Another thing that would be nice would be for future players to take in consideration before singing with this team that this team would deal them before training camp...

Or even make it so you couldn't trade players within a certain amount of time after signing them or drafting them (although with drafting I'd still make draft day trades available for freshly drafted players).

Kinda what I'm hinting on...Teams never really trade a player just signed unless some off the field issue pop up...Usually after training camp or during preseason they see the player isn't a fit and then could trade them....Overall tho...I'm not mad because I've seen this done plenty of times in this game...Just not the same day tho lol

I went after that player in Free Agency so I was shocked to see him come up on the trading block. In the end it was worth it to me to send a way a first round pick for a proven commodity at really a better price than what I had bid for. I'll be curious to see what Cincinnati does, because by my calculations he is overspent by roughly 21 million in cap space for next year, but he has time to address that between now and then. Thank you for the trade DarkRogue.

I am kinda torn at this trade on both sides. Trade doesn't make sense at all, but somehow it does. If I acquire anyone from FA, I don't usually put him straight away on the trade block, especially for that kind of money. it would be an okay trade with me if he traded him to KC after preseason or TC but right after he got him in FA? Sounds really fishy to me.

What's most shocking is the fact that he is supposedly gonna have a 100+ million dollar cap hit this upcoming season alone. Its actually quite frightening to be honest. What if he were to leave this team after this season so another owner that becomes the new owner for Cinci would have to deal with the cap **** for seasons to come? This concerns me as an owner for lots of reasons, so i'm keeping a close eye on trades and team activities for now on. Getting a 9 year pro that has at least 3 more seasons in him possibly and turn him on the trading block right when he is acquired to get young talent, but take a massive cap hit?

Suspicious, suspicious. And in a way, thats kinda a slap in the face to that player in general, getting payed huge bucks to play for a specific team, then get traded automatically afterwards

With the deals I'll have signed tomorrow and my draft picks this season I'm actually calculating over 50 mil in cap space next off season.

If you take over a team without first looking at their cap situation / roster / draft picks, and then find out the team is in bad shape, it's your own fault.

You should look at that BEFORE you "become owner".

While I agree there is some work to do with the salary cap (which I believe is already being done, but it will take a while to have an effect), it is by far NOT the biggest thing wrong with this game, in my opinion.

Or better yet, let me say that I think there are many other things that need to be fixed (or added) more important than this.

I'm talking about new owner's coming into the league too, some new people just look at a team they want say there favorite team is Cincinnati so they chose that team without realizing the cap issue. which brings me to my next point that the tutorial should highlight on that for new owners so they don't make that mistake

Implying that getting a team in the situation Cincy is in now or next season being a mistake just seems silly to me. Yes there will be a big cap hit for one season, but this team will have the room to sign all their picks. This team has a strong young core of players and is in excellent shape to improve further with 3 first round picks next season and an extra 2nd rounder the following season. Also there are still a few more deals that can be done to free up even a little more space. Cinci is currently on pace for 50-60 mil in cap space next offseason.
