Yards from scrimmage doesn't tell near enough of the story. In my never to be humble opinion, you don't measure a plays success by the yards it gained, but by whether it was "a successful play" or not. For example, it's 3rd and 10, your team passes for 9 yards. Not a successful play. It's 3rd and 1, your QB scrambles for 2 yards. That's a successful play.
So, successes to me are:
Gaining 1/3 of the yardage for a 1st down, or more, or a TD, on 1st down.
Gaining 1/2 of the yardage for a 1st down, or more, or a TD, on 2nd down.
Getting a 1st down or a TD on 3rd down.
Flip it all for defense.
I've got New Orleans at 3rd place on defense with a 70% success rate. Tennessee in first on D with a 75% success rate.
I've got New Orleans at 18th on offense with a 38% success rate. Atlanta in first on O with a 48% success rate.
Matter of fact, Atlanta looks like the real deal at this point. I have them as the second best defense and the numero uno offense.
