Crow was the 3.29 pick. He'll be a 10 year player and long time starter for my team: https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/player/13778

Perkins was the 5.31 pick. He'll back up QB for a long time and could start for someone in a pinch: https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/player/13891

I had a lot of misses with gamble players this draft. My Beta-87 draft was stronger.

If INT and Release improved, this guy would have been the steal of the last 10 years: https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/player/13554

Looks like my 2nd rounder out of Notre Dame decided to devote his life to priesthood instead of to football.

Not stars, but some players that should have long careers.

4th round pick: https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/player/13664
6th round pick: https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/player/13960
UDFA: https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/player/13931

The 4th rounder looks to be a nice pickup, with his Run D, Punish, Zone and Man all improving enough that he may be playable even with the poor tackling. But, this player doesn't count as one of the "late round" picks I was referring to. That would be rounds 5, 6 and 7.

The other two aren't good enough to be counted as what I was hoping to see examples of.

To be fair, most of us in MFN-1 and Beta-87 are so savvy at drafting that those potential players aren't going to fall below round 4 if they fall below 3. The LB I took at the end of 3 that ended up 81 overall should fall into that category of "late round pick" because he probably wouldn't have been drafted in many leagues until round 5. I just know what I'm looking for, and so do most people in these leagues.

I understand what you are saying. However, JDB was reportedly going to make some changes/additions so that there would be some gems found in the late rounds (5-7).

This doesn't appear to have been done, or if it was it didn't work.

Technically, we won't know if it works for at least a few seasons. And probably won't really know if it works until the code lands in some non-beta leagues where we don't have quite the experienced drafters as setherick mentioned. In addition, I am intentionally making slow changes - I'd rather it take several iterations to happen than to have it where suddenly it makes no difference where you draft because everything is completely randomized - that was the ultimate result of the failed obfuscation experiment.

At which point these players would have probably already been cut. How is this any different than what currently happens?

So the goal is for this to only work in leagues where the owners don't know what they are doing?

I'm not sure what you are wanting it to be - either we have it where there is a meaningful amount of ability to predict how good a player is, which makes higher draft picks more valuable, or your draft position is meaningless and the ultimate value of the players is completely random. The goal of the algorithm is to increase the probability that a late round draft pick will be a gem - it doesn't even mean that every draft will have such a gem, and definitely doesn't mean that every team will get such a gem, it just means that those gems have a better chance to exist than previously.

Overall, i think the balance of talent is ok. I get get 5 th 6th 7th and udrfas that play. Before the change and current. Now there is Less emphisis on garaunteed early talent is nice, but would prefer a bit more speed . As well as udrfas would retain there volatility boost after the draft.
