Update to hopefully improve the QB's decision to throw when under pressure and a player is open. Starting with 2044 Regular Season Week 1

Early in the game, but still a lot of throws into double coverage.
This one is ...well… The left slot WR is alone.

There is still a lot of gambling / overrunning the zone assignment: https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/10417#1901085

Of recent he's tweaked this part some. What I don't like is how bad they are out of position by the time the ball gets there. The 65 zone cover rookie has good position before the pass , but once it's released the FS goes to make a play on the ball and ends up 10 yards behind target .

Some how he got credit for the tackle, but 65 zone is not good . ...it's not bad either....still my 100 zone defenders did it alot as well. One of the reasons we went away from all zone defense for the playoffs . The FS is fast but he's not too technically skilled so I am ok with him blowing it, but it looks bad.

Most of the bigger plays I see are cause of this poor positioning after the pass is thrown . The positioning prior to the pass has its own holes, but it doesn't compare in yards gained.

Qbs as a whole are not doing well and making the defense better against these deep passes would call for offensive stats to get a boost somewhere . Maybe to change reads by the qb or a change to pass blocking/scrambling /end route senerios ?

Coverage is too tight and there are too many knockdowns. I can't stand to watch any more film, so I'm just going to concentrate on 4.5 standard leagues until there are bigger improvements.

Yeah...that does seem like 4.6 in a nutshell . I like it better than 4.5 but 4.5 had a real rough introduction . I don't think, at this point , if 4.6 were released now it's feedback wouldn't be worse...l. On the bright side exposing zone flaws of 4.5 would be less under the new code and that's why 4.6 is more playable ...hence better. I am not advocating a push but using a reference of comparison for fun or what I prefer ...as 4.5 is ok but speed with man under rules

Man plays out similar except the drop *****...overall coverage is better but the lack of drops makes up for it some.

Deep coverage has to stay deep, but I am ready to move on to another part of the code. Zone defenders get no throw ats in the stats. Does zone coverage ability really do anything ? Is that not parabolic ?

Besides zone and drops any recent changes have had little effect in gameplay. I want to say reads are better but my 249 pound DT1 has 3 sacks and 8 pressures . Something is not right with pass protection and plays with longer snap to pass times. My qbs aren't fast but that rollout play is still pointless .

I don't think the reads are better. They continue to throw into multiple coverage with open WR available. My comp% is way down from last year, with same personnel.
And there is no pre-snap read.

I liked the concept of hot reads...they are not active /effective enough from 4.4 till now. It's kinda of a lost cause. But it kind of simulated a pre snap read.

But it got me thinking about pre snaps reads. We could have them, but as a balance we need to add the ability of defenders to choose to press or not. Its too random , and the addition of bump moderating route speed by acting like a cover skill has made reads rough. This is a few releases that have been plagued with poor reads.

Reads were never the best, but it's generally worse now. Still, I like to keep in mind how many poor reads or forced pass I see IRL every Sunday . But here completion % is way down for everyone except Puns team. He leads the league currently and is within nfl ranges. Glancing at his plan and roster....he's running a bunch of hitches with an elite wr and a good qb. But everyone else is low.

If pre snap reads added it would be kinda like custom progressions added but more in tune with the defensive call . Adding the ability to lock a defender on to a reciever combined with the ability to choose press for him would be a nice counter to custom progressions and pre snap reads.

It may work like this...... Pre snap, As a db chooses to press... an intelligent qb would read man and maybe put the offense in a better position to complete the slant/fly pass. Same if he'd read zone or cushion . ...then he could dump it off to the soft hole in coverage ...

This stuff would change reads but it would be more customized per team and opponent . Reads feel generalized . For all of 4.6 I constantly see wide open outside wrs dragging short over the middle and are completely ignored by my qbs. Just as much as they force passes to double coverage .

I agree there are a lot of bad reads and throws IRL. But her even elite QBs make routinely bad reads. I would like Qbs to see some blitz coming and react acordingly.
