King has a point,I see passes caught with 3 dbacks all over the guy that should never get
caught!

The passing trajectory is calculated, if the ball is too high for a linebacker to knock it down he won't be able to. If he does indeed knock it down it's likely the QB throwing the ball on a frozen rope. Sometimes the QB won't see the LB, other times he thinks he will get it past him - but it is part of the logic. In addition, if a QB is under heavy pressure - and especially if the rusher is making contact with him - the throw can be way off target. I do think with all those DLs in the QB's face on that play, that is likely what happened here.

Not to say it can't be improved, but every explanation in this thread so far -is- in the game engine as a possible causation for a poor throw.

A helpful addition may be the inclusion in the play-by-play of more illustrative descriptors of plays, eg, "QB XYZ comes under heavy/light pressure from RDE So-and-So..." + "...causing an errant throw", "...but remains composed", etc. Or maybe a color commentator added in: "Joe Blow: QB XZY is looking a little rattled from all that pressure..." + "..., critically underthrowing his receiver on that one!", "...skipping that right off the turf!", "...throwing it way off mark!", "...and made a terrible decision throwing into traffic there.", "...throwing it right into a defender!", "...but managed to still pull it off somehow!", etc. And not just QBs, but notable moves from RBs, WRs, defensive players, etc. "Joe Blow: WR ABC made a great adjustment on that one, catching the ball through traffic.", "Joe Blow: That one bounced right off WR CBA's numbers! You have to be able to make those kind of catches in the MFN.", "Joe Blow: LB/DB Anon really read that route well/poorly, and jumped it/bailed on it.", etc.

Might help players understand/visualize what's happening on the field a little more. It can be frustrating to see a player catch a ball while draped over by three DBs, but as Nicko pointed out it DOES happen in the NFL, so it'd be helpful to hear from the game WHY it happened in any given case. Did the QB make a fantastic throw? The WR make a fantastic catch? The DB miss a surefire interception? And so on.

Do you guys even believe that BS? Are you seriously trying to tell me the QB short armed the throw by 20 yards. Because surely the passing trajectory isn't just janky. Surely not. Come on. I trust your opinion on a lot of things, both of you, but there is really no defending that pass in that way. Never.

Even if he short arms the throw that badly, it shows just how broken the under pressure code is. It's just as bad as when the QB throws the ball straight across the field to throw it away. But at least in v0.3.2 the QB doesn't chuck the ball down the field into double coverage as a way of reading WRs.

I mean, I just watched an NFL QB throw a 10 Yard Pass (well, like 16 from where he was standing) and skip it to the WR 5 Yards Short.

So if an NFL QB can be 5 Yards Short on a 10 Yard Pass due to Pressure... then sure, why not in MFN?

Not trying to steal your thread, but when I saw this pass earlier today, it looked more like a punt!

Granted, he was throwing it away, but from the 11 yard line, it looks like it sailed out of the stadium. (your comment about the tall LB brought it to mind)

hmmm doesn't appear I know how to post the link, sorry...

There, you can link it now. Add a 'space' before the link and it will be highlighted

That last part is the key. That's an Sports Center highlight right there...not a play that happens 6-8 times in a game like it does in MFN.
