Damean, good points. I respect that. And that is the part of the game that I'll be spending time learning more and more about as each season goes along.

Obviously I don't know enough yet about football/1 and this game and the dynamics/2 to know enough to be effective yet in choosing a team first off. And the game weights in players skills and other stats will take me a long time in learning. But I want to stick around and spend the time picking all of it up. So I will. But, yeah, I've been here what a week now...? and I'm saying out of 5 games I've won one (in one league, seattle Cust-33), that was my first. My other 2 teams 1 is in draft and the other hasn't started the season yet, so I don't know. I'm sure they won't do too well as I'm far too green to know enough to change that just yet.

Good points ;though, and yeah, I'mlooking forward to learning it all and enjoying the game over the coming months.

First off I have tweaked the coach settings, and each of the QB, RB, FB, TE and CB, SS, FS weights. You know, heavier on run stuff and aggressive, and on def, 1/2 man 2 man and 1/2 zone and deep and shallow... I see those and I get it, initially. However the challenge for me will be to keep track of how each of my players with their different skills to begin with react to my coaching in this way,no? That's probably in the long run going to be the most fun in this game, not winning or losing. I notice that at first I didn't want to watch the individual games, but now I watch to see how the RB and QB are doing, who's blocking and not, and how my secondary is doing. Yeah,I've got a lot to learn :)

But my point was, that it seemed a natural action to me also, because nobody would trade with me, and I saw no trading action going on for the first 2 days. (or not much more than 1).

Do you really think creating another account so you can trade with yourself is normal and not cheating? I don't see how that is possible. Its obviously cheating.

We can argue all day if its cheating or not. He owned up to it .. said he will use the one account .. I checked in one of my other leagues he was in with another account name and his user window shows a bunch of jibberish I am assuming it has been locked.

Move on ..

Thanks, parsh, yeah I've not been to the other accounts since I posted that I wouldn't days back, plus the admin messaged me that they would be closed off, yeah.

dmcc shaking head.. yeah, 'why' argue with a newbie? If this is my first football sim,and I admit being dumber than a rock at it, why the heck would I not assume that because nobody was trading with me, that the 'assumed' next step was to take other actions? I never read and it isn't posted anywhere after you sign up and choose your first team what the expectations are. In fact to a non football sim (or any sports sim for that matter) player just coming into this game it looks really cheap (text only, no graphics, until you see the game play on your 1st day of league play)... and hardly worth playing. I knew I was in way over my head. But I'm deciding to stay with it and learn how to play the game because the rewards seem worth it to me to stay the long haul and see what's in it. Indeed I'll move on from your comment, and learn to ignore some people from here onwards.

My point was that maybe others don't stick with the game because 1. you have a team with one of three areas strong, in the 80-90's (any 3, maybe a kicker, QB and a LDE...any 3 though).. and you need a strong team all around. So you look at the other teams available.., RDE, RG, RB are the 3 in the upper 80-90, but you have some nice high 70's in the entire defense... so you take this team. But you find nobody is willing to trade with you, so your team is going to go through the entire season the way that it is basically, and you're going to win 1 or 2 games.

and 2. if that is the case and there's nobody to trade with, so your team is not going to progress until the end of the season and draft comes along... oh, that's going to be a 2 month wait? ....

.... why stay around?
That's all my point was. Not that anybody should be changing the rules, or relaxing them or cheating to have different accounts. I was simply stating the scenario that I was staring at with my team. And on the 3rd day I found that I had another 5 credits, grabbed another team, .. same thing. That's all.

I certainly see the need for the rules and don't want them to change either. And now I've found that most players admit that they will not trade with newcomers. So, I'm just saying, it follows logically that that may be a reason for some newbies not staying.

:)

The whole thing reaks of poor sportsmanship. Any game will crumble under those conditions. This game is not that. And I hope it will never be. The time spent scamming could have been used more justly if it was focused on gaming football not gaming a computer game. Not one question of how this game percieves football just words on how one can gain an edge without football knowledge.

Parsh says move on yet you feel the need to try and justify your cheating again.

Its not an argument whether its cheating or not. Its a fact. Its against the rules therefore its cheating.

You can try and defend it all you like.

dmcc1, I'm going to enjoy playing this game for years. Pretty grateful it's here, and I thank the developer. I am also grateful for a player base that has some owners' at least who are merciful enough to let a completely green newbie player in their ranks just be a newbie. Looking forward to trading with you in the future dmc.

Welcome aboard tacomachuck!

It will all work out. Just keep working at it, trial and error is the best way to learn.

Just be careful with your early round draft picks, everybody wants them! Don't give them away, be sure you get a good return, and you'll be fine.

I play a lot of leagues and have not ever made trades in some of them.

Morbid, username... nodding, thanks, advice well taken.
'username'.. Ha! slapping knee laughing... your newsflash in the forum post! (re: I traded Rosa/Sacramento to opponent and evidently you have history with them... grins). That's pretty slick, to play with a sense of good humor!

So, before I even bring this up to someone inprivate, I'll do this in public. So... I'm choosing to manage 2 teams. Seems about right for learning with over this first year.
... do players ever do this; trade with another player, say they become friendly in this.. and player1 gives some good players in league 'a', whereas the friend gives some good players to friend1 in league 'b'. Or would that be seen as not smart friendship managing style, but cheating also? Honestly asking here.
And before anyone brings it up, 'yes', I am interested in just playing the game fairly all the way through (my intentions really, or why would I bring this stuff up in public?).
And if you don't mind, are there any other procedures or practices that are seen as good play style and 'tips' that aren't cheating, that anyone would be willing to give.. I'm all ears. :)
