I just looked at the 5 late round picks I cut, the best was a +3/+3.

Well I cocked up this draft. With exception of the first rounder. Now to see how they play.

(1:22) Daniel Rose WR +12/+3 52/90
(2:22) Ralph Benoit DE +5/-3 44/58
(3:22) John Unruh SS +8/+3 35/63
(4:22) Everett Greenspan C +1/-8 40/59
(5:22) Thomas Burks SS +8/0 43/53
(6:22) Richard Peete TE +3/+3 26/47
(7:22) Earl Trexler FB +1/-4 25/36

This year is the first where rookies get extra progression their first 3 training camps. So, depending on how much "extra" they are getting, a player whose potential rating moved by 8 points this season may be no different than one whose rating moved by 2-4 in previous seasons.

Still interested to hear if there were any late round picks with significant increases (to a point where they could actually be a starter - not increasing 25 points to a 52 potential). I've seen plenty with huge drops, but no booms yet.

Unless someone has found one I missed I would say this experiment has been a failure so far.

This guy boomed big for a 6.31 round pick: https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/player/13554

...except since Intelligence, Passing Release, and Scramble don't move at all, he'll still never be better than what he is. If all three of those attributes had boomed, he'd be a Tony Romo instead of a Tony Banks.

I saw him, but even after the improvement he still has a potential value of only 59. That, and as you mentioned, he still sucks at the attributes needed for a successful QB.

I was under the impression an effort had been made to have a couple of late round picks actually BOOM enough to be starter + quality. I'm talking about someone going from 40 > 80+ or something like that.

Either I misunderstood and that effort wasn't made after all, or it didn't work.

I think more effort is coming with the Speed boost in the next draft.

That or JDB still doesn't understand which attributes actually make players work in the game when playing against other people and not playing against the default weights in the test bench.

This. The skill attributes will have a bigger boost, but in the next draft the static attributes will have a chance to be much higher for lower-rated players. Will be interesting to see how that actually works. It's still an experiment in progress, it will probably take several seasons to get it to an acceptable level.

BTW, someone mentioned in another thread that it needs to be more than speed - the update does touch all non-improving attributes. I'm very curious to see the next draft class to see if it's significant enough.
