Elite technique doesnt matter vs this fast cb. Maybe its my crappy qb but did the wr win the bump roll or the route roll? I think he did but the cb recovered very quickly and never lost any real ground

Here's the repeat PBs:
https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/10917#1997462
https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/10917#1997513
Rusher is still CB Ted Lutz - https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/player/15658 lined up at RE.
P James McCain - https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/player/13066, all relevant skills at 100.
Blocker is TE Korey Williams https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/player/14493 (speed 55). Spins in place as Lutz flies by, then double-teams the outside rusher.

Its just that gap in speed caused by weight differences . As the speed scale is smushed, by increasing the low end speed values effectiveness, the penalty to speed caused by weight is too great in comparison . Opening further as the speed scale is leveled more and more.

Theres nothing wrong per say, but that TE should be quicker....hes has a lower body mass index, and the DB is lighter and should be faster, but in comparison due to his hieght, his frame should be carry a slighter higher body mass index or carry a stronger penalty against his speed .

Using only weight expands the scale used in real life. Some of the fastest MPH this season are by guys 230 plus in pounds. We will never have that real speed balance here until that root cause and effect are looked at.

Some TE from the raiders who blistered a great 40 time blew away the guys at his weight in mph as well. Hes like 250 pounds but hes 6 foot 6. The other guys were Chubb and Barkley. They are just not in the game....they are penalized too much do to their weight.

Where this matters is all throughout the game, but for the pass rushing code smaller is better. They are too quick...in comparison. Since the scale has been pushed runnning is producing higher averages. I like that....and who is breaking tackles seems to have changed as well. small changes but smashing the speed scale has leveled speed but not accelleration of speedy guys when it tied to their weight.

Taller guys should pass block better and tire more slowly than a bluky guy. But that bulky guy should get a better push or leverage. The bulky guy would be a bit more durable as well. All these things can be linked to body mass idex and it tied to real speed.

Only two runs over 20 yards this playoff so far. Increasing the value of zero speed has had an effect here. Passing too, but the value on positioning of line men has increased. Positioning of everyone seems to matter more, but slower guys are more inline than before.

If nothing else can be done to what creates a 'good' position...i think the zero value of speed should be increased more. Of the guys who allowed sacks this play offs the lowest pass block was 72...most were high 90s to 100 in that skill rating. But elite speed creates pressure, i wish that tackle could hold off the smaller speed rushers

No, let's not screw this up any worse. We need the 40 times displayed so we can say for certainty what the difference is from player to player, and then we need massive corrections to speed ratings by position in player generation.

The speed gaps caused by weight differences will always be too strong, but they will be smaller if you raise the speed of zero. The theory would be to make the LT fast enough to pick up a 200 pound DE on the speed rush.

Working on player generation alone we have to have alot of fast big guys . Probably nonone under 50 speed to achieve similar results. I feel there no point to waste the available numbers we have. ....which would limit the talent pool.

My teams already are using an average of 50 and above for athletic stats and 75 and above for relevent skill ratings. Your offensive skill players did pretty good with a solid qb and pretty low ratings at some places, but plenty of speed.

Speedy guys seem to be successful under any code....almost using the whole spectrum of skill ratings. 40s and lower will work in the right places. While the slower guys seem to be not much better even with 100s in comparable categories related to the passing game.

Theres no point not to touch on reads / qb scrambles first, but in the end a 10 speed 300 pounder never going to be fast enough....in relation to the 96 speed player at 191.

Putting the speed scale slightly closer has nodoubt changed many areas of the game. Which will need tweaks .....change it slow or fast...but if 4.6 will sit in beta indefinitely ...why not come out with something right? or at least closer to nfl 40s

I am pretty sure raising the value of zero speed is the quickess and easiest way. We need something to make dbs stop jumping routes so bad as well. Thats been here for ever as well.

Like guys need to react quicker because they are too slow. But they should be faster and maybe not over reacting. Like now..

Please?

Can we get a band-aid for the symptom? The disease is not quite so urgent atm.

elite timing, elite snapping, and elite pass blocking for the punt team. Compared to elite speed for the 191 pound cb facing a 39 speed 310 pound tackle.

on the other hand i faced a olineman punting last game and didn't even get close to blocking one.....pretty sure i had one 95 speed db rushing from the LDE spot....

The best part about your play was the upback could have helped out but he ran the wrong way.....

if there was a patch....why not have that upback pick up the first guy through?

Lutz had no problem getting past his blocker all game. Both blocks happened in the 4th quarter when the kicker was tired. Lutz is stopping and staring after the block now?

Now private and custom leagues are instituting punt block bans (mostly not well thought out ... they're including potential blockers for punt returns in the bans). If this doesn't get fixed, it will mean even greater churn in the public leagues.

On a different note -
2 TDs run in from scrimmage after a block,
1 safety,
and 4x a WR streaking down the field with the ball.

I won that on 12 completed passes (out of 31 attempts) with an average of 31.75 yards per completion. Threw three INTs along the way.

Those numbers tell me there is still work to be done on the more important but less urgent issue of speed differentials.

on the different note .....our team has only allowed two teams to have passing longs of over 30 yards all season. Week 1 they got a 39 yarder and week 8 a 35 yarder. We dont have a bunch of elite speed guys but we definitely dont have too many slow ones either.

So play selections have alot to due with large yards after the catch. We set this plan in 5 minutes and dont scout plays or key for any games....yes were bad at stopping the run,but it seems to do well at stopping longer pass gains. A pretty heavy zone non blitzing scheme is being applied...its not a top defense ,but its enough if our offense holds up.

blitzing beats up the run well like always but zone is handling the deep passes a bit better.
