[0.4.6] Version ed778b7

Just pushed an update now that the season is over, unless I notice something between now and the start of the preseason this is the version we're going to start the next season with.

The major change is ZONE. I took Ray's excellent idea about using magnet logic to space the defenders out more effectively. Interestingly enough - and proving what many have been thinking - with this change completion rates took a plummet, so I've also adjusted the logic regarding the QB deciding if someone is open or not, to help him throw less frequently into heavier traffic. I've got the test site balanced back to where the completion rate and interception rate is near the NFL average. I suspect that with the better zone coverage, this exposed the poor decision making by the QB, and this should by extension improve QB's play against man coverage. I'm very curious to see how this update plays out with real game plans.

Ok, first games ran with the update! Any interesting observations?

Two of three interceptions on my first game were into zone coverage. Slant routes are still burning it up, against man or zone.

We shut down our opponents pass game with a man under. Slants.... it didn't really matter but that was their most successful plays totaling for 63 yards on a dozen attempts .

I am OK with slants beating teams if they blitz with no deep help. Especially if the wr is better . I just see those big plays more geared to athletic players . The slower guys get ran down from behind .

Zone should do something like mess with timing aND reads for that play , but bumping the wrong and having help over the top is the way to stop it. 4.4, 4.5 and 4.6 act this way.

I need some time to link plays but wr1 targets were way down . Several plays when they were the secondary option the qb ignored them being wide open and forced bad passes.

Zone looked a little loose in comparison to man.

Yes - I would love to see links to plays with some analysis. That is extremely helpful in fine tuning the issues.

Offensive Play: Weak I Normal All Go
Defensive Play: 4-3 Under 2 Deep Flat Outside

WR2 is the primary. CB2 drops zone to stick with him, so the QB turns . . . and wait a sec' . . . CB1 went back to zone, dropping coverage on WR1 half a second before that turn. WR1 is wide open at full speed with nothing downfield! FS stuck to his zone because of the TE, who staggered his route. He moved over some, but not enough (unless he's Superman). It's going to be a touchdown!

But no. QB, under pressure, fires a little too hard to the outlet. He doesn't look downfield even though its the same direction. Pass is bobbled, and psychic CB1 gets it right in the numbers.

Punt block. I just love punt blocks too much to resist posting it here.

Offensive Play: I Formation Normal FL Hook
Defensive Play: 4-3 Under 2 Deep Flat Outside - Pass Key

WR1 is the primary. Two perfect adjustments by CB1. Pass was slightly off target. Good defensive call and execution.
