So Smirt needs gameplanning tips?

Honestly I'm tired of owners that don't defensive game plan complain about the offensive exploits being the only way that people win in 4.5. So I'll just share notes with the offensive game planners that I respect and make the next "exploit" offense.

I was gonna say I’ve gameplanned against Hitch and Flare quite well. You can contain them and prevent big plays if you gameplan correctly.

Exactly. The people that complain about them complain about the wrong thing.

The hitch is broken because the cb falls down. So it's easy to game plan around that.

The flare isn't an exploit. People just put a non cover linebacker on the rb and complain when he torches them.

4.6 has it's own "exploits" once people figure them out. But all it fixes with the hitch is the cb doesn't fall down all the time which limits gains to reasonable yards.

I’m still learning beta, in my first season. But 4.5 isn’t bad, honestly once you know how to game plan defensively (which to me is more of an exploit than offense). I can call the same 6 plays and dominate.

So far in beta passing seems a little weak, but overall the version is fine. But also I haven’t quite figured out how to gameplan and which plays are solid to use on both sides of the ball. Not to mention just 6 games in isn’t enough for me to give a good review of it.

One thing to consider about v4.5 is it was set up to confine offenses/GMs like v4.6 currently does, however, we figured out the go-to plays.

Best way to put it is the following. You have a game vs. the actual AI - non-human and you are in the 'Scout Defense' screen. You're going to look at plays in which 1-2 of the top 10 will provide you with any ability to attack a red bar play. The rest will be zone and they'll be all the mostly utilized plays. What does this mean? You're looking down the barrel of a 1-game sort leading with Man Flat Zone (10-15 times) followed by that Nickel Cover 2 Man Under (10-15 times) and we can go from there.

Therefore, if you just run an FL Hitch infrequently and/or not make an effort to mash through the all zone AI alignment you won't win or move the ball.

Quick blanket explanation.

Wait wait.... I consider the glitches to be a LBer that can never cover a RB. Flare included..... Simply due to weight which effects speed. It’s a glitch cause who would think that IRL. Yes if he can cover Cause he has good cover skills or yes if there’s a mismatch of speed. But in 4.6 slower backs and LBs will make plays. My question is it overuse or something

4.6 is better cause more players can matchup with more players hence not needing weight restrictions as much.

And idk about falling down as much but speed is closer so the YAC is smaller once you get past....still skills don’t matter enough in 46 as I has a punter cover a qb on the hitch and he was on him like glue and the qb still made the catch

Staying on 4.6 bugs there s way too often going for the pick and whiffing big putting any defender way out of position allowing a lot of YAC

The problems were never speed related.

CBs fall down too often on slant routes and running backs with high route running beat bad cover effectively in 4.5.

That is all.

Watch the actual games and compare attributes if you don't believe me.

For those that don't know, you can mitigate the cb fall down with a fast safety over the wr 2. Or flood the passing lane with the fz of certain zone plays.

The way I look at it is to accumulate stats and to have some fun the idea is to mash the FL Hitch, therefore, against AI or passive GMs not playing hard or mostly absentee you can cut through the Man Flat Zones and pull up a blitz where you go BAM - OVER. (Example: Inside Blitz)

....then your Thanos vs. Slippery Slope types will be a war to the end. (v4.5)

Gotta get your fun in somewhere.

But the idea is if you passively let FL Hitch appear it can continually match up with a Man Flat Zone if you're just having 1 appear here and there and you won't get anywhere.

The ultimate 4.5 defense in my opinion is the 4-3 Spy. Safety over the top of the WR2, safety covering the WR3, SLB covering the WR5 makes it easy to play for both the FB plays out of the 212 and 203 and the RB plays out of the 122 and 113. MLB sits in a zone which takes away the middle slant and acts as good run defense. It has few weaknesses against the 113, 122, 203, and 212 sets.

My recommendation to most novice defensive game planners would be to just run it against all of those sets for an entire game while they figure out what other plays work well in what situations.

All your talk and never once it was verified by jdb. Like he’s an idiot and couldn’t tweak that to work. Ps. I don’t believe your statement in full.... has an asterisk with everything you type. Cause there some truth but only to fit your agenda

Like no one else can grasp football or this game... laughable to say the least . Really I don’t think you care about this game at all.... just being right and playing a crappy version will suffice.

Poor skill with speed is the way to win in 4.5 it clear as day but speed isn’t a problem?

Speed is a problem in that positions are too slow. But speed isn't a problem with cover.

CBs falling down used to be common knowledge in the MFN 1 forums. But I can't find the reference.

So much irony, Ray. Some of us will never forget that you alone are responsible for derailing JDB's work on 4.5, and for misguiding his early work on 4.6. JDB was days away from releasing a garbage version of 4.6 before several us intervened in mfn1, which led to some actual improvements in the current beta code. If you care anything about the future of this game, for the love of God, stop posting in beta forums.
