https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/10338#1886427Heres another qb scramble /run. This is vs. an abused defensive play , so the lowering of skills allowed the two broken tackles by the qb. Still, the Oline looked clueless on the scramble , but at least they drifted play side to block again once the qb crossed the LOS.
Same for defenders . ..again in zone, they wait for the qb to reach the line of scrimage before pursuing him. The LBers should have drifted play side a bit more and perhaps closed in on the qb on his approach to the LOS.
More active Olinemen would enable further scrambles. Those two dline should have been blocked again by an O lineman , freeing that corner for a big gain.
These two plays, which still seem rare and possibly tied to zone coverage schemes , really show how flawed that part of the game is. With end route senerios being what they are this whole part of football is not here yet .
Yes, they ran but it's ugly , and it would rarely happen like that in real life . My big question is where are all the other passes that turn in to broken plays for possible alternate yards ? Something besides what i see.....the play design and a forced throw before taking that easy yards the defense is giving up.
If qbs were opened back up again they would lead the league in yard per carry...that's kinda where we left off before they were nerfed . Still, the longer reads seemed to add these two senerios back in. As they seem to be the only two out of hundreds of passes this first game .
