Dang Ray, here I thought you were a player who valued skills and not useless skilled 95 speed players. I thought you would be horrified to see someone talk about a player with 100 B&R, 80 M2M, and 86 Punish deserve to be burned for only being 79 speed lmao

Just took a quick look at the top defense in yds/attempt allowed (New England) to see what it takes to get it done right now. I am, again, just simply at a loss. The defensive roster middling at best, with some solid players and some big holes. The play calling is schizophrenic, appearing to take a "throw all the possible personnel and plays in a hat and pick one at random without regard for how the offense is lining up" approach. I am just completely dumbfounded. This can't be the approach we need to take to have a successful defense right now.

depth is the key in this injury-prone keague

Idk about injuries, right now we have only have 5 that affect one body part. None of these injuries are is worse than an 86.

Something is very seriously wrong. It seems as though defensive talent means nothing anymore. I have an exceptionally talented (and fast) defense that was 1st in both comp % and yds/attempt allowed last season for good reason. They are now getting torched beyond belief. I'm having receivers constantly catching ***** 5 to 10 yards behind my deepest defender. Seriously entirely broken.

Edit: you can't say b*lls?

What in specific though? Your change in comp% is from 53 to 57, we're not talking torched every play levels.
Completions against per game basically the same - only difference is there's a 60 yd difference this season over last.
All that tells me is that last season maybe more dink and dunk passing was used, leading to small yardage game. Now, there doesn't seem to be more passes allowed by you statistically, but they'd been more medium passes maybe - which was the intent of the changes.

Weiner, Spivey, Johnson at CB. Weiner has allowed more, also missed more tackles which could account for some of that yardage. Spivey has allowed more. Young is still developing as a rookie, allowing 70% and missing tackles, again partially explains the yardage. Montano and Roberson are killing it at the safety spots.

I'm seeing literally nothing in your stats this season that would support the notion that pass defence is "seriously entirely broken". The average per completion is explainable by improvements to passing, especially medium/long, so you'd expect movement upwards there plus missed tackles.

Do you have any examples of specific plays?

NE have played me twice, 36/90, 219 yards. 19 sacks for 160 yards. That needs to be borne in mind when considering raw stats. They're 20 yards less per game, and less than 1 ypa better.

very few trades, if any, especially so by winning owners, involve high rated OL. The trade meter value for OL is way, way too high, especially at 1200 and up. 2500 trade meter value for an OL is crazy, as is 1st round picks valued less than 600, and 2nd round picks less than 300. Overall, would like to see the trade meter values changed to better reflect the true value of either the player and/or the pick. Trading is one of the most fun parts of the game IMO, I think there would be more interest in trading if the trade values were reworked. It would also be good to factor in a players age more for trading purposes. Many unbalanced trades happen with older players that still have a very high trade meter value. Im sure there is a wide range of opinion on trading in general, but one thing that stands out the most to me is that the OL and older veteran players trade meter values are not even close to where they should be. An 8 or 9yr old RB or WR with more than a 500 trade meter value is also not a fair value. The trade blocks are full of old veterans with much higher trade values than they should have.

I think the playerbase undervalues OL, especially given the dominance of pass rushers. A solid lineman should be worth a lot.

The trade values, from memory for picks especially, follow NFL standard? https://www.drafttek.com/nfl-trade-value-chart.asp?

The problem for JDB is finding an equitable value. Any formula would have to normalise each players weighting to form a common scale - and these days I don't even follow the weights, instead preferring min valus of attributes. Factoring in the age etc sounds good, but how would that cover 1 yr rentals? You missed out on draft targets, got outbid on FAs. You're offered that RB who may have 1-2 seasons left, but could get you a playoff spot maybe even a title? Good wind, maybe get 3-4 years out of him. I don't see how the game engine can effectively model all that context.

Equally, I don't think it's any surprise to say that people know the trade values aren't balanced that well. That's an issue, especially for newer owners who have no reference point to go off other than the value points. I'd say it's an area that does need work but the question is how should it look? There are so many options that could be considered. What about the relative availability of that player - ie comparing to similar available in FA? Closer the player is to FA base, then lower the value?

It looks to me that as people start figuring out this new code, we're going to be seeing arcade level passing numbers that are entirely unrealistic from the top passing offenses. It needs adjustment, and a bit of a dialing back. Matchups need to matter more. Too little data to be super confident on it, but it's looking a bit like the QB is the only person on the field that matters in the passing game.

Whereas people see the code as is and find the plays to spam.

Stats such as passing yardage don't seem out of whack.
