Re: [Feature] Updated QB Logic rev. 2

In the small sample size, so far, I would agree with Ray that the passing game is now too easy. I think many owners will see this and try to work out of pass only offenses. I think this takes away from the game. I do like the changes, but would like to avoid pass only offenses.

If I remember, JDB posted some time ago about average % completions in regards to short, medium, and long passes. Possibly a tweak with lowering the % rates of completions would avoid the all pass offense and promote running a bit more.

The passing game is too easy because coverage still doesn't distract QBs and DBs aren't knocking down *****. Coverage has always been loose, but this code is making that apparent.

BUT QBs are playing closer to how they should. So it's NOT a QB problem. I don't want JDB to go back to what it was before. We just need to work on coverage.

I still disagree. Speed rushers get demolished in IRL more often than not. If your tackle has a good first step and good punch, he'll dominate most speed rushers. Also, to be fair, most "speed rushers" in the NFL right now are actually bull rushers who are freakishly fast. Mack has the best one arm punch I've ever seen...ever.

I'm liking what I see out of QBs in this update. What I'm not liking is coverage. And QBs throwing completions into double and triple coverage.

We agree on alot ( like coverage ) , but not edge rushers....mack is 250 with 100s, let us say. My guy is similar , but nerfed.

Back to coverage , I see defenders doing better, but it's with clear quick pressure from the d. The last two games my olbs were the ones getting pressure to force bad passes . Still, I think I have only forced a few incompeltion despite what looked like good double coverage.

I have referenced the wr/ dB interactions need attention for years now, but I loved that one code where defenders where all over the feild and the qb was running.

I think I saw on the road map ....something to the tune of making defenders , that are doing nothing do more. I would like all of them to be on a tether of awareness that let's them know where they are at, the ball is are , as well as there assignment . I think that would fix zone and help those defenders with lost assignment .

Back on topic. Here are the other notes I had from my game:

15) https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/7246#1309817
a) Pretty sure that B&R just isn't working. The CB wiffs on the jam, and the safety doesn't cover. Result: my opponent loses a game.

16) https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/7246#1309829
a) I love this play. QB looks right, looks right, looks right. Then turns left and hits the open drag route in the middle of the field for positive yards. That's how we should sustain drives.

17) https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/7246#1309832
a) I'm torn on this play. The DB that makes the INT seems to anticipate the throw too much. He's covering a guy that's going to slant, and so I'm not sure how he reverses direction to make this INT. It's one of those "how'd he do that plays", but I can live with it because the DB jumps the route on the underthrown ball and makes the QB pay.

I haven't watched the high scoring games to see what happened in those yet.

One thing I've been wondering since the last round of film review is whether B&R is working and, if so, how does it work? Specifically, what determines when the CB is going to come up and jam the WR? And what happens to the WR when he is successfully jammed?

I've ignored B&R since I started because I never thought it worked, and I'm not convinced that it does now. But it may be a way to counter WRs that I'd be willing to experiment with.

There are actually 2 modes in man-to-man, sometimes the DB will play bump and run, and other times he will give him a cushion (variable based on the speed of the WR vs the speed of the DB). But I'll look into having more inputs into that decision/b]

And what happens to the WR when he is successfully jammed?

[b]I wondered that as well

On a related note a slower wr beat my young cb deep on an ugly play . He's smart and I think he went for pick and just blew it , but you got wondering if it were a bad Bump and run.

Is this a bad bump or blown int attempt ?

Looks more like stutter. WR's 100 Route vs CB's 85 M2M. The reason I say this is because the CB spins around like a moron a few times which is the standard graphic when the game doesn't know what to do.

But that doesn't make sense since the ball is in the air. I had to really slow down the film to figure out what happened.

On the top of the screen, now that's a bad B&R.

Oh, right, another thing I wanted to point out is that the testing in MFN-1 for QBs is going to skew things a lot. There are too many elite QBs in this league, way too many. I don't know if the QB generation was skewed at one point to compensate for something else, but there are so many QBs with 100s in key attributes.
