A quick glance at lellow game vs. SF wold be a great game to look at closer.
Lellow a great owner blitzed 80% of plays with a pass key. He's got a good but not elite defense and he played a majority of cover 1 and got great results .
Sf had a very good line qb and very good recievers . Possibly better than lellows team but was held to a 57 qb rating. Only one interception but in general it seems they out played them. Mostly a base offense plan benefited lellows strategy as sf never forced them to use lesser quality dbs by spreading out feild.
Alot of those blitzes were out of base defenses and an elite CB1 and elite dlineman were the benefactor . Perhaps line play suffered due to the extra guys coming vs. Longer passes. Sf could have called more short passes as his qbs arm is not bad but not elite .
His blitz counts looked near ten but we're probably closer to 5. 50 blitzes dispersed between 10 different blitz calls(with a pass key) sounds to be very effective . Game planned well as the FS was put in zone but was the only defender with below 80 man cover skill.
Still, perhaps sf plan was a little vanilla . Run on 1st and second down then pass long. Kinda easy to plan against .
Like I said, this was a quick scan of a few things. The log and player player matchups. I didn't watch it to see what really happened . Sf is good and young but that 80% blitz plan cover 1 with a pass key is my glitch plan I was testing for seasons now. Just without the coverage on 3rd and longs.
So, imo blitzes are still to powerful (boosting playmakers) or qbs are just to dumb to beat it. It would have been nice to see sf put up 20 points or so . Not a few fgs as the blitzes began to be penalized late in the game.
I would look at infinity s plan as well but his dbs are even better as I know he blitzes alot as well (I think)
