I don't think the stutter step is the issue on these, both of those I think are because of the distance the ball is traveling.

I'll keep looking for more examples. I still think it's a combination of both. I see a lot of underthrown ***** when the WR stutters and then continues the route. It's like the QB throws the ball to where the WR would have been without the stutter.

Wouldn't he overthrow the pass if that was the case, though?

No, without looking at the code, it looks like the stutter ends the route, so the QB leads the pass just beyond where the "route" at that point would end. Since the WR continues running the full route, the ball ends up behind the WR.

I noticed this in the past, but it's really noticeable now that I've been testing a base defense heavy game plan. The MLB Spy in the 4-3 has no idea what to do if it's a passing play, so he sits in the middle of the field and pirouettes like the beautiful ballerina that he is. On a RB, he also starts to pirouette until the RB hits the LOS and then he attacks.

So two things:

1) On passing plays, the MLB spy should shadow the QB by moving up to the LOS and then laterally if the QB breaks the pocket. When QBs actually run again, this will be essential.

2) On running plays, the MLB should be attacking sooner or at least moving laterally as soon as he reads the run.

...a) MLB doesn't pirouette on this play, but he also doesn't react until after the RB is past the LOS

Ok, I see what you're seeing now. Let me make a tweak to the algorithm to see what happens. Let me know if you start to see the passes going the other way.

Also...

3) If the QB breaks the pocket (outside of the tackle), then the Spy should blitz like mad.

Looking at these I suspect that a probability for the QB to not "see" the DB is firing. I am removing that, I'm not sure it's necessary with some of the other updates, to see if it turns down the interceptions a bit.

Missed this earlier. This is a good change. I don't think it's necessary either now that DBs are playing better M2M coverage.

Will do. Can you add text to the play by play to make searching for these plays easier? Something like "WR Crazy Feet breaks down the CB" when the stutter is successful.

Ok, I'll add some play-by-play color when a WR successfully jukes his defender. Let me know if it doesn't feel like it applies correctly when you see it.

Pretty much every lb run read while in zone acts the same way . So broke. Really , spy could be considered man , but it is in the category of zone in. So , poor run reads are the result. One other reason man is better than zone.
