Small tweak made to try to reduce those short pass problems. Continue to post a few plays if it still seems too high. I'm trying to bite into this a little bit at a time rather than make a large sweeping change just to try to drill into why those short passes are being so inaccurate.

I'm fine with taking it slow with those. I'm completely confused watching film. I know part of the problem was QBs would roll away from the play and then throw it across the field, but that shouldn't be causing problems now. So... beats me.

1) https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/8221#1491003
a) This seems like an easy pitch and catch that ends up behind the TE.

2) https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/8221#1491013
a) Simple curl route that the WR had to come to a complete stop on. There was another one of these earlier in the game, but it was a little further out.

3) https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/8221#1491037
a) This is a medium'ish pass, but the ball only travels 25 yards in the air. The WR that doesn't catch it has 80 hands. Seems like an easy catch that gets dropped.

4) https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/8221#1491038
a) I see a lot of this now. WRs are playing the sidelines better, but they are running out of bounds a lot.

5) https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/8221#1491043
a) The player that supposedly knocks this down is 8 YARDS AWAY!!! How does that happen? Does he tip this pass? If so, the PbP text should be changed to account for this.

6) https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/8221#1491075
a) I've seen this every time with this play now. The QB takes the snap and immediately rolls to the wrong side of the field. The way this play is designed, it should be a bootleg. But the bootleg should roll to the side of the field where the flood is. That way the defense has to make a choice whether to defend the TE flag or the FB drag route or let the QB scramble for yardage. (And the backside TE should run a deep post, but that's another matter.) Why does this alway roll the wrong way?

7) https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/8221#1491089
a) OK WHAT THE ACTUAL EFF IS WRONG WITH RB PASSING. THIS DUDE HAS 50 YARDS OF GREEN PATCH IN FRONT OF HIM AND STOPS AS SOON AS HE CATCHES IT. LOOK AT HIS RECEIVING ATTRIBUTES. LOOK AT THE QB. THERE IS NOTHING, NOTHING(!!!) THAT JUSTIFIES THIS PLAY. AND THIS IS COMMON WITH RB PASSING NOW.

8) https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/8221#1491135
a) I won the game on this play...

Like yesterday overall better. But still some strange ones.

I shouldn't post this comment because I totally want to exploit this, but I will anyway:

* RBs are breaking down their cover players too easily if the RB has decent route. But here's why that is silly. LBs and DBs covering RBs out of the backfield should never use M2M against a RB unless they are in tight coverage. Instead, they should use the same lateral movement that you use to defend the run and then come up into coverage as soon as the RB starts to break or the pass is thrown.

1) https://beta87.myfootballnow.com/watch/1935#352324
a) Here's another strange RB pass.

2) https://beta87.myfootballnow.com/watch/1935#352355
a) Another drag route where the WR has to come to a complete stop to catch the ball.

3) https://beta87.myfootballnow.com/watch/1935#352363
a) Another wide open drop. This one is iffy tho. The TE should be good enough to make this play most of the time however.

4) https://beta87.myfootballnow.com/watch/1935#352381
a) The oh **** I'm going to give up a ton of yards on this play. Wait, why is the RB stopping? pass.

5) https://beta87.myfootballnow.com/watch/1935#352395
a) Missed short throw. Bonus: The WR running straight out of bounds on the cut.

6) https://beta87.myfootballnow.com/watch/1935#352433
a) Another pass where the WR runs out of bounds before the ball gets there.

7) https://beta87.myfootballnow.com/watch/1935#352457
a) Hmm...another dropped RB pass but with caveats. The QB drifts the wrong way on this play lengthening the distance to throw and the angle. Brown isn't that great of a receving back right now either. I do qustion why QBs move around so much in the pocket for no reason. This goes along with the need to square the field.

I did find a piece of logic error where the QB is incorrectly calculating the location the RB will be at for the pass target. I haven't drilled down where the error is, but I am finally able to reproduce it. I'll let you all know once I get a fix into beta.

Pushed an update tonight that should at least start to address the issue with the bad QB placement. Let me know if it looks better or worse.

Well, something certainly changed. I'll have to dig into my RBs receiving numbers when I'm not at work. He definitely put up more yards last game than he has been putting up in my offense.

I can't post film due to PC problems.
I didn't notice much change.

1) https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/8246#1495554
a) Do you think that Jose Lynch missed his blocking assignment? "79-Jose Lynch completely missed his blocking assignment. 79-Jose Lynch missed that block completely. 79-Jose Lynch missed that block completely."

2) https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/8246#1495576
a) This one looks much cleaner.

3) https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/8246#1495578
a) Same play as above. Much better than before.

4) https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/8246#1495594
a) Not sure what happened here. QB turns one way and throws the ball the other. Looks weird.

5) https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/8246#1495597
a) Pressure?

6) https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/8246#1495598
a) This one is nice.

7) https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/8246#1495602
a) Another one where the QB looked one way and throws the other.

8) https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/8246#1495612
a) Uh, what?

9) https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/8246#1495613
a) Nice adjustment by the WR here. Was this on purpose as part of the last change? But the DB, ****. Zone needs fixed.

10) https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/8246#1495629
a) Another WR adjustment here. On purpose?

11) https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/8246#1495649
a) Hmm... Not sure about this one.

12) https://mfn1.myfootballnow.com/watch/8246#1495663
a) Much better playing the sideline here by the TE. On purpose?

From the first half of my 87 game. The past two games in 1 and 87 my offense has switched to grind it out mode, so I have been throwing fewer passes. I only threw 8 passes in the second half of the 87 game. I'm almost certain this was by design of my game plan, so I'm not concerned.

1) https://beta87.myfootballnow.com/watch/1941#353380
a) WR slams on the brakes here for some reason.

2) https://beta87.myfootballnow.com/watch/1941#353380
a) This is ugly too. RB just stops moving.

3) https://beta87.myfootballnow.com/watch/1941#353386
a) Here's a good example of an RB being credited with using route running against an LB. I'm not sure if route is really what is causing the RB to get open here or not.

4) https://beta87.myfootballnow.com/watch/1941#353402
a) I've been seeing more diving / spectacular catches on these TE seam routes. I don't really mind it because of the nature of the route. I just see it regularly on that route.

5) https://beta87.myfootballnow.com/watch/1941#353430
a) Some hesitation here by the RB, but this is much cleaner. The reason I'm highlighting this play is because the QB has no reason to roll out of the pocket here, and then rolls away from the play.

6) https://beta87.myfootballnow.com/watch/1941#353440
a) Willing to blame this one on the rookie QB and the not great receiving RB, but posting just in case.

7) https://beta87.myfootballnow.com/watch/1941#353441
a) Here's why I'm starting to pay more attention to QB movement in the pocket now that pass blocking is better. The QB rolling indiscriminately here leads to the sack. If the QB rolls away from pressure, he may lengthen the play. Or if he just stands still and slings it, the pressure may never get there. Right now, QB movement is really random in the pocket.
